LVA GmbH is Austria’s largest private institute for analyses and expertise for the food, feed, environment, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics sectors. At its headquarters in Klosterneuburg, over 130 highly specialised employees are ready to provide expert advice to diverse customer groups. From producers, importers, exporters and bottlers, to trading companies and communal catering, as well as catering establishments and canteen kitchens. Food producers, pharmaceutical companies and cosmetics manufacturers know very well: Getting the product from the concept to the shelf requires overcoming numerous hurdles. Ingredients and additives need to be checked meticulously, product-specific requirements and hygiene standards have to be complied with, and labelling obligations and packaging regulations need to be implemented. We at LVA make this process as simple as possible for our customers.
As a leading European centre of excellence for safe and trusted products, we deliver expert advice, sound analyses, audits and certifications from a single source.
With comprehensive expertise and a broad range of services, we advise suppliers, producers, bottlers, exporters and importers along the entire value chain – and beyond. Even distributors, service providers and start-ups are always on the safe side with our wide range of services.
We also regularly impart valuable practical knowledge in seminars and training courses.

History

1926

The association “Lebensmittel-Versuchsanstalt” (LVA) becomes constituted.

1957

Relocation to company building and headquarters at Blaasstraße 29, Wien/Vienna 19

1958

The Research Institute of Nutritional Science (FIE) is founded from the research department of LVA.

1999

The certification body receives initial accreditation in accordance with EN 45011 from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour on 16 April.

2000

The testing and inspection body receives initial accreditation in accordance with EN 45001 and EN 45004 from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour on 15 May.

2008

“LVA GmbH” is founded and the business areas are divided between the newly founded company and the LVA food testing institute.

2009

LVA is awarded the Austrian Cooperative Research Cooperation Prize.

2010

The business operations of Österreichisches Getränkeinstitut (ÖGI) are acquired.

2010

The ground-breaking ceremony of the new location at Magdeburggasse 10 in Klosterneuburg is held on 6 October.

2012

The new LVA GmbH building is ceremoniously inaugurated on 20 February by the Governor of Lower Austria, Dr Erwin Pröll.

2013

On 2 December, the LVA food testing institute is awarded the certificate in accordance with ISO 29990:2010 by the certification body TÜV Austria.

2014

The LVA organic control body AT-BIO-901 celebrates its 20th anniversary.

2017

LVA GmbH is certified according to EMAS.

2019

On 23 December, the Lebensmittelversuchsanstalt is awarded the certificate in accordance with ISO 21.001:2018 by the certification body TÜV Austria.

2021

BBA Capitalpartners Management GmbH takes over as the new owner of LVA GmbH.
